Here are some pictures of the beautiful and uninhabited (two pluses) island of Hawksbill Cay. The stand that we are taking down is right above the high tide line which is just fine as they are a pain to drag. We are piling the branches and stumps on the beach for a burn later on after they have dried out a bit. Brought to the islands to provide shade they are, like many other man introduced species, a disaster for the local flora and fauna. The shallow root mat prevent turtles making nests; when they blow over in a storm, they tear up the beach adding to erosion; and their pine needles form a mat of duff that prevents any other plant or tree from getting established. But as I said, their pretty when prunned and have a pleasant swishing sound in the wind. Here though their weedy and will be eliminated, chansaw and my back willing!!

Mark, I mean this as a compliment, but it looks to me like you are laughingly piloting that boat straight into the gates of hell and your passengers are non to delighted with the destination. Either that or they were just featured on the Caribbean version of Americas Most Wanted and were unhappy with the exposure.
